Last night Gordon Bennett and Block were winners at the first ever Sale Festival of Film at the Sale Waterside Arts Centre. It was a wonderful intimate venue and some great short films from local film-makers were exhibited. Thank you to Rachel Jones and the other organizers for a fantastic event. Looking forward to next year’s.

Last Sunday I awoke at half three in the morning, spent an hour on the motorway from Manchester to Halifax and endured one of the strangest days imaginable photographing for a short film written and directed by Rebecca Papworth The cast and crew were fantastic, the weather, on the other hand, was random to say the least with a mix of sunshine, rain, wind, hail and plenty of grey clouds . . . it’s definitely May-time in England.
Rebecca won the UK Film Council/John Brabourne award for 2011. The aim of the award is to support a talented individual to achieve their goal in film. Rebecca put the award towards Teddy, a short film featuring an assortment of characters set against the backdrop of a car boot. Rebecca’s intention is to develop a feature from Teddy.
Yesterday I was asked a favour by my friend Dominique Molloy. She was producing a short film and asked if I would step in at the last minute and be a 1970s extra at a garden party. Given that last weekend I was playing a Bargain Booze supermarket clerk, I figured–what the hell. I took along my pocket-camera, the Canon S95, and grabbed some piccies.
The short is directed by Craig Vance. I asked a member of the crew, Ursula Haworth, to snap me in my 70s garb, I’m photographed with Dominique, who was also roped in at the last minute. Was a very good craic. 🙂
