Well it’s almost Christmas and I’ve resorted back to what I love the most: film. I’m currently writing a feature length script entitled ‘Alex Byers’ which is about a travelling gadget salesman making superficial corporate “Happy Holidays” stop-offs before making his way home for Christmas. It’s a romantic drama (with a bit of comedy) about, basically, a guy who hasn’t got time for people and ends up falling in love with a fellow travelling saleswoman. There’s a bit more to it than that, but I’ll write the bastard* first and see what happens (*I’m a bad procrastinator, excuse the bad language).
This morning I was listening to Chris Moyles’ Radio 1 show and heard Robert Downey Jr’s interview with Dominic Byrne. He’s promoting the new Sherlock Holmes film but he also mentioned a little sequel which should be one of the biggest films of 2010. I tracked down an official “teaser” poster and it looks, forgive my Manc, “mega”:
Very exciting stuff, can’t wait. I’m a big fan of Jon Favreau and I’m sure he’ll deliver for a 2nd time (I should note that my film taste does extend beyond big-budget Hollywood blockbusters but getting pre-release cinema buzz about an indie film isn’t quite the same . . . well I’m prepared to be proved wrong on that front, I’ll keep my eyes peeled).
I’m still working on ‘Block’, a short film which I’ve written, and will be posting the screenplay up online soon. Last shooting day is scheduled for January 2010 now. More soon . . .
