BBC Comedy Festival 2014

Last month I covered a three day event for BBC Comedy North which, amongst a number of events, encompassed a conference at the Lowry Theatre and live performances of three prospective sitcoms at Dock 10, the production and studio complex located at MediaCityUK.

Amongst the guest speakers at the conference were Greg Daniels (The Simpsons, The Office, Parks and Recreation) and Steven Moffat (Sherlock, Dr Who). I’m focusing on my own stage and screen writing at the moment and it was great to listen to (as well as photograph of course).

Digital Fiction Factory Event

Back in January I photographed for the Digital Fiction Factory, a collaborative venture between the BBC, Channel 4, Creative England and Conker Media. They put on a briefing day at MediaCityUK’s Dock House building for a number of writers and commissioners who were discussing projects the Digital Fiction Factory were looking to develop. It was a particularly interesting event to document given my interest in screenwriting. Back in April I submitted an idea for a children’s television show to Amazon Studios and I’m currently finishing up two feature-length spec scripts that I started last year. I’m hoping to develop my screenwriting alongside my photographic work. These are some of the images from January’s event.

John Bishop’s Only Joking – Sky One

Back in September I photographed for John Bishop’s Only Joking at Dock 10 at MediaCityUK. It started airing on January 11th and continues to broadcast every Friday night at 8.30pm on Sky 1 for nine more episodes. You can catch up with the first episode here

The format of the show centers around John Bishop presenting and introducing comedians he personally picked to be on the show, interspersed with pre-recorded cutaways of celebrities and members of the public telling their favourite joke.

Photographs below are from all the different comedy acts.
