Teddy – Production Stills

Last Sunday I awoke at half three in the morning, spent an hour on the motorway from Manchester to Halifax and endured one of the strangest days imaginable photographing for a short film written and directed by Rebecca Papworth The cast and crew were fantastic, the weather, on the other hand, was random to say the least with a mix of sunshine, rain, wind, hail and plenty of grey clouds . . . it’s definitely May-time in England.

Rebecca won the UK Film Council/John Brabourne award for 2011. The aim of the award is to support a talented individual to achieve their goal in film. Rebecca put the award towards Teddy, a short film featuring an assortment of characters set against the backdrop of a car boot. Rebecca’s intention is to develop a feature from Teddy.

So big thank you to everyone involved and in particular to Dominique Molloy (who produced the short and with whom I’ve starred alongside as an extra not too long ago….)

Block – short horror film shot on the RED camera

Last autumn I wrote a short screenplay entitled Block. It was about an office worker with an after-hours passion for writing who gets more than he bargains for one lone evening. Classic horror set-up. We filmed in November 2009 and January 2010 and my friend Liam Shanagher oversaw a  hefty post-production schedule for most of 2010. What we ended up with was a cut down version of my script and all the better for it. You can read the original final draft to Block here

Big thank you to everyone who helped out with the making of this short film. The film was screened privately at Jabez Clegg earlier this month and we’re  hoping to exhibit it at several film festivals in the run up to Halloween.
